Chapter Introduction
Chapter 4 provides an overview of some contemporary population health topics that impact society today. Advanced practice nurses should be aware of global health and how the Sustainable Development Goals align with regional health priorities. Climate change provides an opportunity for advocacy and policy. The section on management of disaster and communicable diseases outlines roles of various advanced practice nurses.
Concepts in this chapter align with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Core Competencies for Nursing Education (AACN, 2021) as outlined in Table 4.1.
