Chapter Introduction
Chapter one provides an introduction to population health, including a foundation for defining various populations focusing on demographic and geographic parameters. Readers will explore the impact on health from several social indicators. Strategies for synthesizing aggregate data and engaging in effective partnerships will be analyzed. An exploration of Healthy People will provide the advance practice nurse exemplars for improving population health.
Concepts in this chapter align with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Core Competencies for Nursing Education (AACN, 2021) as outlined in Table 1.1.
