Author and Publisher Responsibilities

Before and after publication, there are tasks that must be performed as part of the process or to meet our Pressbooks policy, copyright, and licensing.
These tables outline the tasks that should be undertaken by the author and the publisher. Contact pressbooks-group@uwf.edu if you have any questions.
Author responsibilities
Task | Description |

Complete workshops | Attend and complete the Pressbooks, OA & OER, and Copyright workshops |
Creative Commons License | Choose a Creative Commons License for your book and add it to your Book Info and the Title page of your book. |
Copyright | Ensure you have the appropriate rights to all the content you have included in your publication |
Accessible content | Make sure your headings, images, tables and other content in your book are accessible for all. |
Argo Scholar Commons | Add your book to the Argo Scholar Commons – to ensure your Open Textbook @ Argo Scholar Commons is listed as part of your publications. |
Export your book | Once completed export ePub & PDF formats. There are additional options if appropriate |
Re-export your book when you make updates | If you make updates to your book after publication, re-export the files to be available for download. |
Publisher responsibilities
Task | Description |

Workshops | The library will host the Pressbooks, OA & OER, and Copyright workshops |
Copyright and accessibility | We will assist in checking your Pressbook for copyright or accessibility issues |
Check the Argo Scholar Commons record | We will follow up to ensure that your book has an Argo Scholar Commons record |
Library Search record | After publication, we will request a record for your book in OneSearch (Primo). |
OER promotion | We will promote your book via several OER lists and websites including the Open Textbook Library, Merlot, and the OER Commons |
Library social media and campus promotion | We will promote your book through the library’s social media and the campus newsletter. |
